Wake & Shake, What An Event!

Wake & Shake, What An Event!

I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who came down to our Newcastle Can 'Wake & Shake' event yesterday morning. We had an amazing and generous group of people, hosting free exercise classes and giving delicious healthy breakfast demos. And it was great to see so many of you who came along and just got involved there and then! The South End of Northumberland was transformed - what a buzz to see so many people reclaiming the street as a place to come together, getting active and having a load of fun doing it.  This is what Newcastle Can is all about!

It was so inspiring to hear your success stories. I can see that hundreds more joined Newcastle Can over the course of the day, so let's keep that up and see that sign-up counter rising!

Thank you BBC Radio Newcastle for coming down and hosting your full mid-morning show from the event, and thank you Newcastle Can-ners for coming down, getting stuck in and sharing the word on social media.

Yesterday proved that when people come together to meet and support each other, then making changes that can transform your life and your health feels more possible and less daunting. Check out some of the great photos on our Facebook page here and on Instagram here and share yours across your social channels using #NewcastleCan.

The next big thing that we've got coming up is the Great North 5k run on September 9th. I'm going to be tackling this with a load of brilliant folks (some of you are already signed up I know!) and we want as many of you as possible to get involved. Simply register for the event here, and select the Newcastle Can wave so that we can all set off together and help each other along the way. If you're a bit unsure (as I am!) about running (or jogging, or walking) that far, there really is no need to worry - we've got lots of advice for you from the experts and we'll be there to support one another on the day. Together we can all help each other across the finish line! Find out more about it all here.

Keep it up Newcastle!
