The benefits of getting active as a group

The benefits of getting active as a group

It's not for everyone, but a lot of us find that attending a group exercise class is one of the most effective ways to achieve our health and fitness goals.

There are lots of exercise classes in Newcastle, such as the Newcastle United Foundation FREE Fit Club which is currently running every Wednesday (more sessions coming soon): 5.30-6pm HIIT | 6-6.45pm Running Fitness.

We all know that we should exercise but it is sometimes hard knowing where to start. By attending a class you don’t need any background knowledge you just turn up and give it a try! You might also find that you are less likely to slack off as well as you'll probably stay for the full class (whereas you might be more inclined to quit early if you’re working out alone).

It’s a great way to make new friends and they in turn will act as another motivator to keep going. Plus, just being in a class with likeminded people can have a positive effect on your workout!

Once you find a class you love at a time that suits, you can pencil it into your diary like you do any other appointment and you will be much more likely to attend.

Fun & varied

Classes should be fun with motivating music and with a wide variety of classes available now there is something for everyone, whether you’re into Zumba, Bootcamps, Ariel Yoga or just going for a run. Try everything out as unless you do, you won’t know what you enjoy.

Staying safe

Attending a class means you are safe in the hands of a knowledgeable instructor who can show you the exercises that are right for you, make them easier or harder where necessary and accommodate to look after or prevent any injuries.

Options for all abilities

With classes and instructor experience there should be something for everyone so why not have a look and see what’s in your area today!
