“With just a small team, we launched our Newcastle Can activities in October 2017 and we all inspired each other to do well. A ‘welcome’ pack was introduced with hints, tips and healthy recipes; with information downloaded from Heart UK about lowering your cholesterol; alternative breakfast ideas; alcohol intake and we even devised a simple workout plan for beginners. We also invested in a new set of scales in the office for our regular weigh ins.
We all made small basic lifestyle changes such as being more organised when food shopping; reducing our alcohol intake; decreasing our meal portion sizes and lessen our carbohydrates consumption and opting to walk further or taking the steps instead of escalators. It is also important to reward yourself with a little treat to prevent those sudden binges. All these little changes helped us to lose those pounds – and what a difference it has made.”
